List Building - Why Your Index Should Be A Lead Capture Page III

By Sean Ray

When they click they get more information, and a promise of a great free offer if they just provide their first name and email address so that you can email it to them. The offer could be a white paper on some aspect of the topic of your website, or a free trial of some software or anything else you consider to be of value. Try to make the offer relevant to your site, and of value to the visitor.

A person visiting your website on how to catch snapper fish will not be interested in a free trial of great new software to design squeeze pages! Keep it relevant to your site and you will reel them in. Offer them a discount on one of your products, or a free report on snapper populations round the USA. Anything that will help them in their own field of interest, which is liable to be the same as yours since they are visiting your website.

The very people who need squeeze pages most are those that know nothing about them, because they do not visit internet marketing websites. You could then target niche sites explaining how they could get more traffic to their own website if they only had a list of targeted people to email to on a regular basis. This would be to the benefit of both you and the niche webmasters you are targeting. Your exit rate from your home page is already high, and while you might lose a few potential visitors through your offer, you might also capture some who would otherwise have clicked away. What will be sure is that the visitors who did give their email address will be highly targeted to your website for future offers you can now make them. This would not have been possible without your squeeze page.
